One of the most difficult aversions for a Christian minister in beginning to preach in the open air for the first time, is getting over making a fool out of yourself for Christ’s sake. Every open air evangelists has gone through the internal anxiety of stepping out into the public forum and raising a Bible over his head, and raising his voice over the din of the crowd, and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ the first time. At first glance there seemingly is nothing more definitive in the gospel ministry of what Paul meant by declaring “we are fools for Christ’s sake” (1 Corinthians 4:10) than the public proclamation of the gospel of Christ in the open air forum of a public park, street corner or business district.  Howbeit, the author said “”seemingly”, in that appearances are deceptive when not considered in light of the Holy Scriptures. Many mistakes of judgment are made when Christians examine things outside of the Scripture’s light. In these last days of the ongoing revival of open air preaching, there have come into the ranks of open air evangelism, thousands of ministers of Satan, “deceitful workers” transforming themselves into the ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13), who are nothing more than a defiled, worthless bunch of lazy, berating fools whose sole purpose in life is to feed on foolishness in the name of God.

And without exception everyone of them justifying their blatant stupidity and absolute degradation of the gospel into the biggest fools act since the Three Stooges, because they think 1 Corinthians 4:10 applies to preaching. These mad hatters of religious cacaphony, dressed in their underwear, and bellowing out loud mouth condemnation upon every person happening upon their vain show of religious ‘tom-foolery’, went ballistic over the SPF’s post concerning “Slobs for Jesus”, and have gnashed their teeth like those hypocrites of Stephen’s martyrdom (see Acts 7:54), hell bent to silence the voice that would dare call down their damnable foolishness and madness. The street preaching neophytes and clowns come lately, dressed in their undershirts and boxers, and spewing out religious madness and open rebukes on every passing sinner, thinking they do God a service; while each one them markets themselves on the internet as the “one and only”, “first and last”, grandiose, the official super supreme expert street preacher of all street preachers, have spent the last six months bellowing and whining about Brother McRae insisting that men of God be “holy men of God” (2 Peter 1:21/ 2 Kings 4:9). And just as 1 Thessalonians 4:7 and 8 prophecied, these lost direlects “despise” holiness to the point of whinning about Brother McRae wanting everyone to dress like an Amishman. “Bless the Lord, O my soul”, these street hawking fools, just like their father the devil, always over shoot their mark, for their problem is not with the author, but with God Almighty. The SPF and its Director may call for holiness in its minsiters, but God demands it and without exception requires it. “He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us HIS HOLY SPIRIT” (1 Thessalonians 4:7, 8). It is a work of Satan in the corrupting of the mind (see 2 Corinthians 11:3) of professing Christians to think a minister or any saved child of God can have the Holy Spirit inside their body, and HOLINESS not effect the body!

This last spring, the author was invited by a local pastor to come down to his church unannounced to a meeting in Norfolk, Virginia of the fanciful SOAPA five point calvinists meeting of street preachers, to expound on the Jonahs of open air evangelism that would go to hell themselves (Jonah 2:2) rather than preach a revival of repentance, and fume at God when his congregation turns to God rather than go to hell with the self righteous angry preacher (Jonah 4:9, 10).  Ever met a fool hearty street preacher that carries an angry countenance like a metal of honour on chicken’s breast, that mounts the street corners and park benches mad at every sin but his own carnality and worldly life??? Ever met a self proclaiming minister on a street corner dressed in his fruit of the loom boxers and undershirt, with religious ass nayings written all over them, wearing bug eyed dark sunglasses, a jungle hat and tennis shoes, with a carpenter’s belt around his size 48 girth, with his beer belly hanging over his boxers, with black motorcycle gloves on his hands, trying to hold onto a large banner in one hand, a megaphone in the other, yelling and spitting all over the microphone, as he calls down some teenage girl for dressing like a harlot???

Ever met a street preacher that reminded you more of slob, a clown or a raving fool rather than a minister of cross of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world?? Ever met a preacher like the one just described that left you with the indelible feeling that what ever “salvation” he was yelling about was more like a heavy chain or a mill stone about his neck, that if you were to accept it, would drag and sink you right down into hell with the fool hearty slob doing all the yelling????

“A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty;

but a fool’s wrath is heavier than them both.”

-Proverbs 27:3

The reason for that feeling, is that it doesn’t take long for the “fool’s wrath to be presently known” (Proverbs 12:16).  And brethren, a good portion of today’s street preachers are just that! They aren’t fools for Christ, BUT THEY ARE FOOLS! And they are attracted to open air preaching for no other reason than their own foolishness, which fascinates them to the man, with the preaching of the cross, because the Bible says very clearly that “the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:18). Now it did not say ‘the preaching of the cross is foolishness’, nor did it say that “preaching is foolishness”; though most street preachers will misquote the verse just that way. The preaching of the cross is not foolishness: it is only “to them that perish foolishness” (1:18). And preaching is not foolishness, nor is that particular style of verbal communication deemed foolishness, beyond exactly what the Bible said that “the preaching OF THE CROSS is to THEM THAT PERISH foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:18). That is what the author meant when noting that these fools “think 1 Corinthians 4:10 applies to preaching”. They likewise think 1 Corinthians 1:18 applies to all preaching and all preachers as an excuse for them being the obvious fools that they are!

Howbeit, any busy minister of the gospel of Christ who has read his Bible through 10 times, and has learned something from both experiences, and knows full well that the apostle Paul clearly quantified his remarks in 1 Corinthians 4:10 as being his personal judgment and as such specifically applying to “apostles”, saying in verse 9, “I THINK…I THINK…I THINK that God hath set forth US THE APOSTLES last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.” Then Paul says, “WE ARE FOOLS FOR CHRIST’S SAKE” (vs. 10). The “we” is expressly aimed at “US THE APOSTLES” (vs. 9). It was the apostle Paul who wrote twice in the New Testament’s list of offices relating to the church (1 Corinthians 12:28) and the ministry (Ephesians 4:11) wherein “apostles” are mentioned “FIRST” in both lists, knowing that “the FIRST shall be LAST” (Matthew 19:30/ Mark 10:31).  And in 1 Corinthians 4:9, 10, the scriptures clearly define the areas of the apostles work that makes them “fools for Christ”, and the statement had nothing whatsoever to do with their preaching. Note, Paul describes what areas of an apostle’s ministration makes him a “fool for Christ”:

• Hunger…they did not have enough to eat (vs. 11).
• Thirst…they did not even have enough water to drink (vs. 11).
• Naked…they did not have enough clothes to wear (vs. 11).
• Buffeted (vs. 11).
• Having no certain dwelling place (vs. 11).
• They worked for a living at trades that required them to “labour”, not just show up at the work place and use their minds, but “working with our own hands” (vs. 12).
• “Being reviled, we bless” (vs. 12).
• “Being persecuted, we suffer it” (vs. 12).
• “Being defamed, we intreat” (vs. 13).
• “We are made THE FILTH OF THE WORLD” (VS. 13).
• “And…the offscouring of all things unto this day” (vs. 13).

Every aspect of the apostles being “fools for Christ” had to do with the conditional attributes that their ministrations created for them as a result of their ministries and the duties therein of living by faith and travelling throughout the world to preach. But not once does being a “fool for Christ” have anything to do with Paul’s preaching style or delivery. On the contrary, “the preaching of the cross” as practiced by the apostle Paul is detailed as “the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18), and a clear “demonstration of the Holy Spirit and of power” (1 Corinthians 2:4), “fully known” (2 Timothy 4:17) and an absolute “manifestation” of the word of God (Titus 1:3). And that Spirit is Holy, and the Word of God is Holy, and they cannot work together in a demonstration of the power of God and the message be fully knonwn when carried by a FOOL

“He that sendeth a message by the hand of a FOOL

cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.”

The preaching of the cross is not an unmistakable, satirical demonstration that the preacher is a BLANK FOOL by his clown like act of showing everyone that he is a fool.

“When he that is a FOOL walketh by the way,

his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one

that HE IS A FOOL”.

-Ecclesiastes 10:3

Now that being said, the SPF has clearly demonstrated for years the fruit of the Spirit, in being “longsuffering” with such nonsense, hoping that brave soldiers of the cross would take heed to an example set before them, more readily than an open rebuke; for the one thing most apparent about the majority of open air preachers is that they can dish it out, but they do not take it very well. They can rebuke others, but they DO NOT take rebuke very well at all. But alas, the years of working amongst these fools in hopes of teaching them “the way of God more perfectly” (Acts 18:26), has proven that God is true, and “a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump” (1 Corinthians 5:6/ Galatians 5:9). And now such stupendous ‘tom-foolery’ has innundated the ranks of every open air preaching event in America, and turned the preaching of the cross into a cacaphony of nit-wits acting like the biggest orgy of fools to ever “change the truth of God into a lie, and…serve the creature more than the Creator” (Romans 1:25). Now it is pass time to be tolerant any longer, and the time has come for the Street Preachers Fellowship and every God loving minister of the gospel to denounce such idiocy just as we would reprove hypocrisy or adultery. And as preachers of the cross of Christ and ministers of God, we intend to call such down for the fools they are! Because you can count on it, when the Bible says that “the preaching of the cross is to THEM THAT PERISH FOOLISHNESS” (1 Corinthians 1:18), the devil can transform any LOST FOOL into a minister of righteousness to destroy the work of God in open air preaching of the cross. Satan has taken an army of “them that perish” (1 Corinthians 1:18) that THINK the preaching of the cross is foolishness, and transformed them into a street gang of thuggish street preaching fools to convince everyone saved or lost that the preaching of the cross really is FOOLISHNESS! They are the clowns, hucksters and court jesters of open air evangelism today! A reproach to Christ and not of Christ! We base this position upon the following Biblical view of the Fools For that OTHER JESUS (2 Corinthians 11:4) that “pervert the gospel” (Galatians 1:7, 8), and deserve to be called by what they show themselves to be.

And before they can gnash their teeth and foam at the mouth about the SPF and Brother McRae, the author testifies before God and every one who may read this, that this old man has proved time and again that he loves many of these men who will most assuredly take offense to what follows. From the mighty Ruben Israel, to the seemingly ever present Larry Craft, down through the ranks of men with whom the Director has preached with, prayed with and stood beside in very tumultuous crowds. This preacher is ever a lover of good men (Titus 1:8) even those whom he has never met like the fanciful Jesse Morrel to those he wished he had never met like the male masseuse Gerald Sutek. And contrary to some baser elements that do not know either Ruben Israel or this preacher, the author has never demanded others to be like him. But Jesus Christ takes the preeminence above all of this preacher’s friends who will most assuredly take offense at being cast exactly as they appear on the street, but with a Biblical light revealing to others what they to date cannot accept or change.  The leaven of an unsanctified life has created a circus act that men like Brother Ruben never ever intended to happen. But it has happened. But there is absolutely no way to please God Almighty and His Son Jesus Christ, by trying to justify or excuse your foolishness because you practice it while preaching the gospel! You’re a fool for doing that. These fools are constantly relishing in their foolishness to the point, that they fill the internet with the very shame of their stupidity and foolishness. The SPF will allow their own foolishness to speak for itself in comparing “spiritual things with spiritual” (1 Corinthians 2:13) and spiritual things with foolishness. As open air evangelists, WE need to look very carefully at our own ranks, and put aside personal excuses for lack of sanctification and personal holiness and allow the Bible to read us like the fools we have become as a group, before the group shatters and is scattered abroad like the chaff to the wind.  Compare the following and ask yourself, “Is what I read from these verses what I see in these photographs?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! No where in the Bible does Jesus Christ come back the second time and "kill everybody except for born again Christians"! That is a lie, and a slander, and the world and every Bible Believing Christian that has read his Bible through four times knows this is a lie! Only a fool would say this, and and only someone who really does hate everyone but himself (see Luke 14:26) would publish this slander and put a pirates symbol on the banner as well! A God called street preacher??? Hardly!!

It is not the position of the SPF that any or all of the above pictured men are deliberate fools, or the enemies of God. Just ignorant! Ignorance is many times mistaken for being stupid [see the above photo]. Ignorance is the result of someone ignoring something. These men above ignore the very Scriptures they preach. They ignore many aspects of the very Book they hold over everyone else's head like a bludgeon. They ignore holiness. They ignore sanctification! They ignore the "simplicity of Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:1-3). They ignore a consecrated and devotional life of fervent prayer and daily Bible reading where the Pauline admonitions are applied to your own personal walk,  present being and standing in the public domain. These men ignore "true holiness" (Ephesians 4:24) which is the direct and definitive attribute of "the new man" that is created in righteousness. They ignore the admonition to "cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the FLESH and SPIRIT perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (2 Corinthians 7:1). They ignore the absolute fact that "if any man be in Christ, HE IS A NEW CREATURE" where "OLD THINGS are passed away" and "ALL THINGS BECOME NEW" (2 Corinthians 5:17). They ignore the absolute truth that the new birth leaves nothing about every child of God the same as the world. They are the definitive public examples of how easy it is and how foolish it is for Christians to throw the Bible around and ignore it personally. There is absolutely ONE THING missing in all their lives and ministrations, and that is the manifestation of "the life of Jesus...in their mortal flesh" (see 2 Corinthians 4:10, 11). Street Preaching is nothing new, and the church and America does not need any more "experts" or "official street preachers". America needs some holy men of God, and none of the above come close to the Biblical transformation of a man, into "a holy man of God" (2 Kings 4:9). Their appearances speak louder than their words or their sign boards. They will probably get even madder, and excuse their carnality even more, with bling after bling of fool hearted nonsense, because they cannot get right themsleves, and have no intention of doing so.

Open Air Evangelism DOES NOT NEED  a self proclaimed "Godfather of Street Preaching" [see http://www.officialstreetpreachers.com/Rubens%20File/RUBENS%20OFFICE.html]. That Catholic blasphemous title belongs to God Almighty alone. Street Preaching in America needs just one "broken spirit: a broken and contrite heart" (Psalm 51:17) that can humble himself to personally make amends for so many neglected fruits in his own life while playing the fool to correct everyone else's life, when the world can see no difference about Jonah to make a difference!
